Dell Latitude D630

Sometime in the next month, I should be getting a Dell Latitude D630. It's going to cost me $1488.43 (including S&H) for the following:
And then I'm getting a 160GB harddrive and 2GB of RAM from Newegg, pushing the total to $1721.34. Not too bad, considering my other options were a Macbook and a Thinkpad, both of which had many fewer battery options available. It's going to be interesting using Ubuntu with this, since it uses a brand-new chipset (Santa Rosa, aka Mobile 965).

It's scheduled to ship on June 8.

i just got my D630 today...

... unlike other installs i've done to core duo intel laptop and amd duo0core, kubuntu failed during boot on this machine. i ended up installing ubuntu server and apt-get install kubuntu-desktop. i didn't get 1440x900 working, but i'm sure that's only a few google searches away. :)

Matt,

Are you planning on installing Linux on your D630?

I ordered mine yesterday and, since then, I've been reading about many a struggle getting *nix up and running on the D630.
